Threats posed by the vulnerabilities
CVE-2026-71362 – Adobe Commerce Incorrect Authorization
By exploiting the vulnerability, an unauthenticated attacker can bypass expected authorization controls and perform privileged operations within the affected Commerce environment.
CVE-2026-48413 – Adobe Commerce Stored Cross-Site Scripting
Allows malicious script content to be stored and subsequently executed in the context of affected users, potentially resulting in arbitrary code execution.
CVE-2026-48414 – Adobe Commerce Stored Cross-Site Scripting
An attacker with the required privileges could exploit the stored XSS condition to execute malicious content in a victim’s browser context, potentially leading to further compromise.
By exploiting these vulnerabilities, an attacker can:
- Escalate privileges within affected Adobe Commerce environments.
- Execute arbitrary code through exploitation of stored XSS vulnerabilities.
- Bypass authorization and security controls.
- Access protected application functionality without appropriate authorization.
- Manipulate sensitive Commerce application data.
- Potentially access sensitive customer or business information.
- Compromise vulnerable Adobe Commerce applications.
- Disrupt business-critical Commerce services.
- Use compromised Commerce infrastructure as a foothold for further attacks.
Official mitigation guide
Organizations should:
- Apply the applicable August 2026 Adobe Commerce security updates as soon as operationally feasible.
- Prioritize CVE-2026-71362 because of its critical severity, unauthenticated attack path, and potential for privilege escalation.
- Review Adobe’s official APSB26-92 bulletin to identify affected products and applicable security updates.
- Upgrade affected Adobe Commerce installations to the corresponding August 2026 security release.
- Upgrade Adobe Commerce B2B installations to the corresponding August 2026 release where applicable.
- Upgrade Magento Open-Source installations to the corresponding August 2026 security release.
- Verify successful patch deployment through the organization’s patch-management process.
- Where immediate patching is not possible, restrict exposure of administrative and sensitive Commerce functionality and strengthen monitoring until remediation is completed.
SharkStriker recommendations
- Prioritize remediation of CVE-2026-71362 due to its Critical severity and unauthenticated exploitation path.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of Adobe Commerce, Adobe Commerce B2B, and Magento Open-Source deployments.
- Identify systems running the affected 2026-jul versions or earlier.
- Apply the appropriate August 2026 security updates as soon as possible.
- Ensure all required July 2026 isolated patches are applied before deploying the August patches.
- Prioritize Internet-facing and business-critical Commerce environments.
- Restrict administrative and privileged Commerce functionality to trusted users and networks.
- Monitor for unexpected process creation and suspicious activity originating from Commerce application infrastructure.
- Validate patch compliance after deployment and investigate systems that remain vulnerable.
- Use the Commerce Version Tool to validate patch coverage and CVE protection.
- Maintain continuous vulnerability and patch monitoring for Adobe Commerce environments.
